Journal Entry 7

Activity:

  • Watch videos about game feel
  • Finished work on Projekc B

Invested hours(I'm counting only hours at home):

  • Watching videos: 1 hour
  • Work on project B: 8.5 hours

Outcome:

  • Understanding (to some extend) game feel
  • WebGL build of a platformer game Project B (final version)

Notes:

  • The videos were great to watch. They simple explained terms  "game feel" or/and "juiciness".
  • I added some game feel aspecs to the Project B game, such as more "juicy" music.
  • While working on the Project B I learned a lot of stuff, I get to know more Unity events, leaned cool tricks in scripts and so on. I still consider myself as I beginner (still on the start of expoloring the Unity because it still looks like a lot of stuff) but at last I moved few centimeters from the startline.
  • I was not sure how mutch stuff I can change in the Project B compared to Project A, for example I had there written some feature, but in the grid, in the drawing it was made in that way, it didn't worked, so I assume in this case it's ok to change that. I have a few more examples of this. If I were doing the Project A again I would do a lot of stuff differently, be more clear and so on.
  • In the end, I think that I've done a great job (or at least I hope so), I enjoyed playing and developing the Project B game, just now my sisters tried it and they liked it, even they are not video game enthusiasts
  • Changes from the specification in Project A:
    •  The first room was made bigger in general, to spawn in place where really no enemy can kill Ellen
    • In the second room's left and right cave was made bigger to give space for enemies, to fight enemies
    • In  third room, few floors were made bigger to make jumping better experience (otherwise Ellen bumps easily her head to the roof of a floor)
    • The fourth room was modified to better fit the final pressure pad and the infopost
    • Decoration and music weren't specified  in a detail, but I tried to follow given information, also the music was chosen to be the most "juicy" music I can think of.
    • In the whole level, dead enemies after Ellen's respawn will not be respawned, this change was made to make it easier to play (when they were respawning, it was too hard to get to win room 4).
